well - our big news has arrived!

tiny bones press is officially a publisher! a lifelong dream of mine, i have a picture book to share with you.

this one wouldn’t have been possible without david, as his photography (and life spent looking and making art) is what guides us through this entire concept.

always looking is a series of photography picture books meant to inspire young eyes to see everyday things in a new way.

how did i get here? we are huge readers at home. j + h not only love to look at art books i show them, but are equally enthralled looking at magazines. they are content to just to flip through and look at images and sound off words as they recognize something. every time i sit with them and engage in talking about the visuals we see, the story is different and the words change based upon what they are learning at that given moment. it’s been great for me to expose them to different everyday images (without screens) since we have spent so much of quarantine in our own immediate surroundings.

this book is designed for the young ones who are looking with or without you, as well as the older ones who are learning about art, design, photography and composition.

in short: it’s a not-so-precious first photography book, in long: always looking will engage and inspire your awareness of the present moment - and foster that in your young one (and remind us of it).

colors, shapes, patterns is available for to order on our site (or at the bottom of this email).

📚 begin shipping on nov 21st. follow us on instagram to stay updated on this branch of our small business.

we will be rolling out some other items with this release as we go - some prints, totes and pins so hope you will follow along on this journey with me.

hope everyone and all that you know are still healthy and doing alright.

and most importantly - if you or anyone you know lives in georgia, here is a link to access some information about the upcoming runoff elections

how can you read a picture book without a formal story?

let the visuals guide you, interact and talk about how the images affect you and what you see. start with the elements of color, shape and pattern and let it transition to the new words being learned (for the very young) or an experience recently shared (for the not so young). have it be a conversation starter for an older one who is just learning about the art of seeing and being introduced to the concepts of design, photography, art and composition.

the photographs can be the guide for a conversation that goes a bit deeper - let it strengthen the way you communicate with each other and watch how those talks can transform the way you experience daily life together.

I am so, so grateful for all of your continued support and have some other exciting things in the near future to share with you. …so until then

two reminders : if you haven’t already added in your address to get a free notecard, do so here! and if you place an order and want to me to handwrite a note for you, do so here!

AND if you have an idea that you and I can collaborate, please let me know!

community is more important than ever right now.

as always,

megan
